1-Iranian Air Force Tests New Air-to-Surface Missiles
The Iranian Air Force tested a series of newly updated air-to-surface missiles on the sixth day of the Army's massive wargames in the Strait of Hormuz and northern Indian Ocean, a senior Army commander announced on Monday.
Elaborating on the details of the current stage of the wargames, Lieutenant Commander of the Iranian Air Force for Operations General Seyed Mohammad Alawi said in an interview with FNA that the new missiles were fired by the country's Phantom fighters and hit and destroyed the targets successfully.
"The new missiles have been loaded onto the Army's fighter jets with changes and updates in their parts. They had a fully successful performance today," Alawi stressed
2-Iran's Heavy Submarines Test-Fire Torpedoes Successfully
The Iranian Navy's heavy submarines on Monday successfully test-fired home-made torpedoes at subsurface targets on the sixth day of a series of naval wargames, codenamed Vellayat 89, in the Strait of Hormuz and northern Indian Ocean.
Also during the previous stages of the exercises, the submarines had managed to enter the waters of the hypothetical enemy and pass the enemy's linking lines.
The submarines were also tasked with transferring military personnel and equipment during the drills.
3-Iran Equips Fighter Jets with New Electronic Warfare Systems
The Iranian Army's Air Force has recently equipped its fighter jets with newly-developed sophisticated electronic warfare systems, a senior Iranian army commander announced on Sunday.
Lieutenant Commander of the Iranian Air Force for Operations General Seyed Mohammad Alawi said in an interview with FNA that the newly upgraded fighters have been used during the ongoing massive wargames, codenamed Vellayat 89, in the Strait of Hormuz and northern Indian Ocean.
"This system (electronic warfare) has recently been designed and manufactured by the self-sufficiency Jihad (department) of the Iranian Air Force and it has demonstrated acceptable performance," he added.
