Chile MoD Reveals Locally-Built Mini Submarine

During avisit this morning to the Chilean company "Vapor Industrial,” Minister of National Defence Andres Allamandwas informed of the construction process of the "Crocodile Class 250" submarine, the first of its kind built in Chile and in Latin America.
The module, whose cost approaches EUR 4 million, is 33 meters long with a hull diameter of 3.5 meters hull, and displaces about 250 metric tonnes submerged.
Among the missions planned for the "Crocodile Class 250" submarine, the Minister of Defence said that it will be able to perform search and rescue, exploration, including sampling of marine species, measurements and studies of currents, as well as being an important tool for training professional divers, as it allows them to the latter work at greater depths for extended periods of time.
At the mini-submarine presentation, the Minister of Defence was accompanied by the Commander in Chief of the Navy, Admiral Edmundo González Robles.
