International Sea Breeze-2012 Naval Exercises Begin in Black Sea

Sea Breeze-2012 international naval-military exercises have begun in Ukraine’s Odessa region today. The opening ceremony was held in Odessa’s Officers House, Kommersant Ukraine reported July 9.

According to the press-service of the conference, this year’s Sea Breeze-2012 will be dedicated to the topic of conducting a naval international security operation.

The maneuvers will last till July 21 with the participation of 1,500 troops from 16 countries, including U.S., Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Algiers, Belgium, Georgia, Israel, Canada, Moldova, Germany, Sweden, Portugal, Turkey and others.

The exercises are being conducted on Ukrainian territory since 1997 within the framework of bilateral cooperation between the defense ministries of Ukraine and the U.S.

The scope of Sea Breeze-2012 covers 4 stages, all to be held in Odessa and Odessa Region.
