A P-800 Yakhont (SS-N-26) missile launched from a Bastion (SS-C-5 'Stooge') anti-ship missile system made a successful flight during a recent firing by the Black Sea Fleet's 11th Separate Missile Artillery Brigade, fleet spokesman Captain 1st Rank Vyacheslav Trukhache told Russia's Interfax news service.
Carried out following the final 2013 inspection of the brigade, the firing scored a hit against a shipping container positioned several tens of kilometres distant. The unit operates three Bastion systems. Its last live firing had been during the Kavkaz exercise in 2012.
The Yakhont missile used by Bastion is a variant of the 3M55 Oniks used in the ship-mounted 3K55 system.
