Azerbaijan and Turkey will establish a single radar system for the detection of air defense systems, combat aircraft, helicopters and ships. Currently this issue is being discussed between the relevant agencies of both countries.
Military sources report that the system will allow the defense forces of both countries automatically to recognize their aircraft and the aircraft of other countries.
Upon reaching agreement, the "Identification Friend and Foe" (IFF) system, developed by the Turkish company ASELSAN according to the NATO standard STANAG 4193, will be installed on all aerial vehicles of Azerbaijan and Turkey. It is intended for determining the membership of an aircraft, its altitude, and other important characteristics for defense.
